Civil War M1852 Naval Officers Sword - Just Outstanding!
Click each image to enlarge
I will let the images do the talking for this outstanding, high quality M1852 Naval Officers sword with a flat mint scabbard. The hilt is tight with the original mint grip and wire wrap. The blade is marked "Ames Mfg. Co., Chicopee Mass." and the "Ames" address stamped on the top scabbard mount. The blade is gorgeous with the etching very deep and frosting popping throughout. The scabbard fittings have all the original screws, and the patina matches the hilt. The leather is perfect on the entire scabbard. Ample original gilt is still present and the sword was manufactured in 1861-1862 as the blade etching suggests. In addition, there are fancy engraved initials of the owner "JV" on the guard. Simply outstanding and of upgrade quality!
